Frequently Asked Questions

I've never run before. Can I take part in the Mayo.ie Western People Women's Mini-Marathon?
  • We'd love you to take part! Walkers, joggers and runners are equally welcome to participate - this event is all about taking part and enjoying a day outdoors. We'd just ask that if you are a walker or jogger that you try to start behind the runners to avoid congestion and bumps on the day.

When does online registration open?
  • Online registration will open on Friday, February 13, at 12 noon.

How much is it to take part?
  • Registration for 2026 is €30, to include your t-shirt and medal (t-shirts limited to the first 2,000 people registered). An early bird rate of €25 will apply for the first few weeks.

When I try to register, there is an option for fundraising. Do I have to fundraise for a charity to take part?
  • No, you don't have to fundraise to take part. If you do not wish to fundraise for a charity - just select 'No'. If you do wish to fundraise, there is the option to set up a fundraising page for your chosen charity. If your chosen charity isn't on the list, please let us know!

When online registration closes, can I still register in-person?
  • If online registration has not sold out, you can register in person and collect your t-shirt at the T-shirt collection points (to be announced).

Help! My t-shirt hasn't arrived in the post!
  • Your t-shirt won't be posted out until approximately a week before the event. Bear with us!
  • Important: Before contacting us, please check that you have paid for postage and have not selected 'collection'. To check this, go to your Eventmaster confirmation email - Subject 'Your order for Women's Mini Marathon Mayo 2026 is complete'. and within, Click here to download your receipt. If you paid for postage, it will be noted on your receipt.
  • Please note that T-shirts are dispatched individually, so you will need to pay for postage for each person you have registered, even if you are at the same address.
  • If you have not paid for postage, your order will be available to collect at one of the t-shirt collection points over the weekend of the event
  • If your t-shirt has not arrived by Friday, May 1st, please contact us or pop into the Event Marquee on the morning of the race and we will do our best to sort you out.

Can children participate in the Mini-marathon?
  • Children are not permitted to register for the main competitive 10km event. However, there are two alternative options to allow children to take part:
    • The Mini-Mini event (2km). Registration for this event will open shortly, and is usually managed through primary schools.
    • Its4Girls Teen Event (10km). This is a participative event for secondary school girls aged 12-17, designed to encourage participation in sport, and entry is just €10 to include t-shirt and medal. A prize will be awarded to the overall winner in this category. T-shirts will be delivered to schools, or available at the above pick-up points.

Please note that only participants who have officially registered for the event will be covered by insurance on the day. Only participants with race numbers will be permitted to enter the starting enclosure.

Can I add or change my t-shirt size once I have registered?
  • T-shirt swaps may be possible on the morning of the event depending on availability but this is not guaranteed. Please visit the Event Marquee to speak with one of the team.

I registered for more than one person, but only one t-shirt has arrived. Why?
  • All-t-shirt orders are packed and posted individually, and postage is calculated by weight, so postage needs to be paid for each t-shirt. If you've only received one t-shirt, that means only postage for one t-shirt was paid.
All outstanding t-shirts and race numbers will be available for collection on the weekend of the race including on the morning of the event.

I registered for the virtual event and want to change to in-person. Can I?
  • Yes, please bring your t-shirt and come along! Please pop into the Event Marquee on Market Square so we can allocate you a new race number.

I registered for the in-person event and want to change to virtual. Can I?
  • Yes - please email us at [email protected] so we can get your details to post you out your medal after the event.

Are buggies permitted during the race?
