It's For Girls
It’s that time of year again, we at Mayo Sports Partnership are gearing up for the annual Mayo.ie Western People Women’s Mini Marathon, on Sunday May 3rd, 2020 at 12 noon, The Mall, Castlebar. This year we are proudly marking our 11th anniversary celebration underscoring our billing as one of the premier sporting events in the West.
Our ‘It’s for Girls’ initiative now in its 6th year sets schools a challenge to get the most girls to take part in the Mayo.ie Western People Women’s Mini Marathon. The initiative is all about participation. The more girls each school enters the better the chance of winning the It’s for Girls’ trophy.
This is a great opportunity for schools across the West of Ireland to encourage their girls to increase fitness levels by training to walk or jog the 10k event and getting healthier and more active in the process.
All participating schools are in with a chance of walking away with the coveted Mayo Sports Partnership Secondary Schools Mini Marathon ‘It’s for Girls’ Trophy and winners will be decided on a percentage basis of girls over the age of 12. Entry fee is only €10 per student (normal cost of entry is early bird €20 until April 1st and €25 from there). Teachers/Coaches/Mentors from the school can also enter as part of the team for €10.
All participants will also receive a special Mini Marathon Technical T-shirt & finishers medal and a fantastic. We are also providing extended refreshments options at the finish line.
Interested schools should register with Mayo Sports Partnership before the closing date on Friday April 24th
To register the school’s interest and to get further information contact Deirdre Donnelly at Mayo Sports Partnership on 094 906 4360
