Think of how good you have felt over the last 12 weeks. Think of how far your fitness level has come, you may have started from a very low base where you weren’t able to walk a short distance to being in the position that you will now be able to walk/jog or run 10k(6.2miles)

When May 2nd is over and the dust settles, do consider continuing your training. You should exercise at least 3 times per week. Make sure to link into other events that may be on especially now as we head into the summer.

Carramore 10km walk/race is upcoming in May, there is a 10k in Balla, mid summer.
There’s an 8km in Ballyhaunis, Claremorris and also plenty of 5k events.

Check out the Mayo Sports Partnership website www.mayosports.ie for further information on events or look at the running website www.runireland.com.

Mayo AC too has a road league throughout the county which encompasses 9 races, keep an eye on their website into the future.

Also very importantly link into one of the many meet and train(fit4life) groups around County Mayo, Ballina, Westport, Swinford, Claremorris, Castlebar, Belmullet, Ballinrobe,,,,, this is a brilliant way of having a focus every week and a brilliant social outlet too where you will meet many other walkers, joggers and runners just like yourself.

This is too good to just let slip.

You are on a rollercoaster now and don’t disembark, you will never regret this decision.

Finally you can contact Anne at Mayo Sports Partnership for any further information.

Have a great day on May 2nd I hope I get the chance to meet and congratulate you personally… All the best.

Community Meet and Train Groups

Belmullet

A new Community Meet and Train Group has now been established in Belmullet.  Starting on Tuesday Feb 9th at the Elly Bay Suite in the Broadhaven Bay Hotel. The leaders have a safe and lit training route set out that covers up to 10k distance. They plan to start out slowly so if you are from the area, want to walk, jog or run this meet and train group is for you. Contact 087-6333940 for further information.

Joining your local 'meet and train' group is a great incentive to get fitter. There you will be able to ask advice of the various leaders on walking, jogging and running.

Fit4Life meet and train is open to anyone over 18 and people of all abilities. Everyone is welcome. Check out www.athleticsireland.ie for a national list of Fit4Life 'meet and train' groups.

If you are from one of these areas it may help to prepare for the mini marathon by going along to one of the meet and train sessions. For further information log onto www.mayosports.ie
